Forward Running Platform Take Off
Ron O'Brien

 Three Step Run
 1st Step
 . Eves focused on the front edge of the platform
 . Moderate speed
 . heel to toe rocking action
 . arms swing forward 45°  either in parallel or crossover pattern high hop from first step to second step
 . during high hop arms swing back to body alongside the thighs


 2nd Step
 . contact made on ball of foot
 . arms begin lateral swing upward
 . Knee flexes and center of gravity drops in preparation for a low, fast last step
. fast exchange from rd to 3ni step


 3rd Step
 . contact made in heel to toe rock
 . Arms lateral at horizontal to had Icicle
. knee remains flexed throughout
 . strong push backward to create a fast, low hurdle


Hurdle
 . four to six feet in length
 . push leg from 3rd step trails lead leg until just before landing
 . knees remain flexed, ankles and toes drawn up slightly
 . trunk remains vertical or very close to vertical
 . head remains vertical, chin drawn in
 . eyes focus on edge of platform until just before contact
 . arms reach vertical overhead position with elbows bent and hands crossed before first
 contact is made
 . contact made,1st whole foot for basic divcs (103, 1 13, 5132D)
 . contact made heel to tic for optional divcs (107, 109, 5152, 5154)


Four Step Run
 Same as three step run but adds one moderate speed step. Arms can stay at sides or swing
 backward on the first step.


 Five Step Run

 First three steps taken at moderate speed. Arms swing forward on first step, back on second step,
then forward on third step (either parallel or crossover pattern). Third to fifth Steps performed the
 same as the three-step run
