DIVERS,
COACHES AND PARENTS PLEASE HELP:
On Monday, November
25, 2002, Dartmouth College announced that it will eliminate
both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs at
the end of this season. Two Division I programs with 53 student-athletes,
three coaches, and a legacy dating back to 1921 are being
sacrificed for $212,000. . The Head diving coach has an new
age group team the Upper Valley Diving Team which began last
year and also has 25 members to that team along with 7 College
divers that will be affected if this program is dropped.
The student-athletes
of Dartmouth, their parents, alumni, and other supporters
are marshalling their resources and energy to save these programs.
At this web site you will find information to help you support
this effort. Below please find links to some of the articles
that have appeared in the press and a few representative letters
that have been written in support. The letters are included
to illustrate the diversity of those who are supporting the
Dartmouth Aquatics Programs and the various reasons they have
in doing so. Many, many, many more communications have been
sent. Also below is a list of the key decision makers and
various means for you to communicate with them. Please do
make your voice be heard..
